The Supreme Court (SC) vide its judgment dated 04.12.2023 in the case of Ram Lal v. State of Rajasthan & Ors., 2023 SCC OnLine SC 1618 reiterated that the power of the writ court to review decisions passed by the Departmental/Institutional Disciplinary Authority (Disciplinary Authority) is limited to an extent, to only examination of the legitimacy of decision-making process and to determine whether material evidence was duly considered by the Disciplinary Authority during the enquiry/proceedings or not.
